I'm Omar, a computer science student at GUtech in Oman. I like figuring out how computers actually work, and building useful software with what I learn.

I started out self-taught, coding for years before university. The degree is filling in the parts self-taught developers tend to skip: data structures, memory, and what's underneath the frameworks. That's also why the lab has more C++ and math in it lately.

My favourite way to learn is to build the thing myself: a database tool in the terminal, a machine learning model with no framework, whatever I'm currently curious about. Sometimes it works first try. Usually it doesn't, and that's the interesting part.

Alongside my studies I build real software too: I run Stooq, build Rafeeq, take on client platforms, and work part-time as a developer. I also write things down occasionally.
